Millions of Acres Owned by Baby-Boomers

. Baby-boomers range in age from 55 to 75. Over 10,000 baby-boomers turn 65 years of age every day. Over the next 30 years baby-boomers will transfer approximately $68 trillion in wealth. A portion of that is in US farmland. The value of the US farmland market is $2.7 trillion. A significant portion of this will transfer over the next 30 years. Who will own it? Farmers, ranchers, investors, and farmland funds. Some of this land will transfer to the next generation while a majority of it will be sold – likely at a live public auction. This is the best method to sell land to guarantee true market price discovery.
